Walter Albert Neumann was born on 26 July 1923 in Engle, Texas. He was the son of Carl August Herman Neumann and Ida Clara Wuthrich Neumann.
Walter served in the 434th Fighter Squadron, 479th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was shot down and killed when he was attacked by a German fighter over Neuruppin. His plane crashed near Buchholz, Germany, while flying P-51D-10-NA Mustang #44-14592 "Buzzin Texan."
1Lt Neumann is now buried in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, USA.
