Dewey H. Hollis was born on 10 February 1923. He was the son of Austin Hollis and Mary Hollis. He was graduated from West High School in 1941. He entered the service on 30 January 1943 and began overseas duty in October 1944.
Dewey served in the 434th Fighter Squadron, 479th Fighter Group, as a Second Lieutenant. He was killed in an airplane crash in England on 13 December 1944. He is now buried in the Elmwood Cemetery, Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa, USA.
