William B. Fletcher was a 45-year-old seaman from Marblehead who served aboard the merchant ship Spitfire. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Fletcher died on July 16, 1813, with pneumonia recorded as his cause of death.
