John E. Cave was born on September 2, 1922. He served in the 386th Fighter Squadron, 365th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant and Pilot during World War II. On September 18, 1944, he was killed in action while flying a P47D 44-19735) on a mission near Aachen, Germany. Approximately 40 FW-190’s engaged his squadron, and his plane was hit behind the cockpit and crashed near Nuth, Netherlands. 1Lt Cave is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
