He died on September 17, 1944, in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, and is now buried in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA. Pvt Ligeros was killed in battle during the Canal Drive liberation of Belgian Limburg.
