Michael Gennifon was a 25-year-old seaman from Baltimore who served aboard the merchant ship Syren. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Gennifon died on November 12, 1814, with catarrhus recorded as his cause of death.
