Edward Raphael Gaudet was born in 1921 in Massachusetts. He served in the 514th Fighter Squadron, 406th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant during World War II.

A pilot of the P-47 D-5-RE #42-8682, he took off from Station 417 airfield in Ashford, England, on June 29, 1944. He was killed when his aircraft was shot down by an Fw190 at 08:15 and crashed 1 km south of Dreux, France. 1Lt Gaudet is now buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint-Avold, France.
