Hubert M. Bayless was born on March 30, 1920. He was the son of Allison Benton Bayless and Tula Mae Horne Bayless.

Hubert served in the 315th Troop Carrier Group as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on May 12, 1944, at the age of 24, while stationed at RAF Spanhoe, England. He is now buried in the Kermit Cemetery, Kermit, Winkler County, Texas, USA. His rank on his headstone is Flight Officer.
