Isaac Harman was a 24-year-old quartermaster from Portland who served aboard the merchant ship Elbridge Gerry. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Harman died on November 9, 1814, with pneumonia recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
