Oliver W. Brown was born on October 4, 1920. He served in the 856th Bomber Squadron, 492nd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. A gunner on an airplane, his B-24H #42-95160 took off from England on a bombing mission over Avord, France, on June 4, 1944. For an unknown reason, the plane stalled and spun out of control, and crashed at Garvestone, Norfolk, England.

SSgt Brown along with all his crew was buried at the US Cemetery at Madingley on June 5, 1944. His remains were later repatriated and he is now buried in the Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Township, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, USA.
