Jacob Hentey was a 17-year-old seaman from Salem who served aboard the merchant ship Jemmett. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Hentey died on April 16, 1815, with phthisis recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
