Wood Hibbard was born on February 23, 1922, in Burning Springs, Kentucky. He was the son of Walter Hibbard and Amanda Sams Hibbard.
Wood was serving in the 2018th Engineer Fire Fighting Platoon at the time of his death. He was Killed in Action on May 27, 1944, following the explosion of a 1000 lb bomb attached to the burning aircraft of Lt Carlos J. Ball. Pvt Hibbard is now buried in the Elijah Campbell Cemetery, Fall Rock, Clay County, Kentucky, USA.
