George Merrill Foote, aged 30, was born on November 16, 1920. He was the son of Bertrand Wilson Foote and was married to Kathleen N Merrifield.

At the time of his death, George was serving in the 2nd Air Refueling Squadron as a First Lieutenant and Second Pilot on the KB-29P #44-83950 during World War II. He was killed in the crash of his airplane at Cairsphairn, Scotland, due to low clouds. His plane was on a routine navigational training flight from Lakenheath Air Base in the south of England to Prestwick. All 11 crew members aboard were killed.

1Lt Foote is now buried in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, USA.
