Tennant Appleton Metz, aged 30, was born on July 6, 1921. He was married to Jeanne E Metz.

At the time of his death, Tennant was serving in the 2nd Air Refueling Squadron as a Captain and Boom Operator on the KB-29P #44-83950 during World War II. He was killed in the crash of his airplane at Cairsphairn, Scotland, due to low clouds. His plane was on a routine navigational training flight from Lakenheath Air Base in the south of England to Prestwick. All 11 crew members aboard were killed.

Cpt Metz is now buried in the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, USA.
