Charles Wilbur Tungeitt, aged 20, was born on May 10, 1924, in North Vernon, Indiana. He enlisted on February 20, 1943, in Louisville Kentucky.
Charles served in the 705th Bomber Squadron, 446th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Gunner of the B24 42-51116 'Nature's Nymph' in World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 7, 1944, when the aircraft he was aboard crashed into Rumburgh, England. He is now buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery, North Vernon, Jennings County, Indiana, USA.
His name is commemorated on a plaque at the St. Michael's Church in Rumburgh, England, but his surname is spelled Tungett.
