Robert Harry "Bob" Riedel, aged 19, was born on January 21, 1925. He was the son of Harry E Riedel and Irene Speck Riedel.

Robert served in the 749th Bomber Squadron, 457th Bomber Group, as a Sergeant and Radio Operator on the B-17G #43-38812 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on December 23, 1944, when his airplane crashed at Great Rollright in England. They were on a flight from RAF Portreath in Cornwall to their home base at RAF Glatton, near Peterborough, when their aircraft hit trees and crashed 800 yards from Great Rollright village hall.

Sgt Riedel is now buried in the Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA.
