John Jack was a 36-year-old seaman from Baltimore who served aboard the merchant ship Impressed. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Jack died on March 14, 1815, with peripneumonia recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
