Thomas Jackson was a 26-year-old cook from New York who served aboard the merchant ship Hebrus. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Jackson died on June 6, 1814, with pneumonia recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
