Orland J. Watson was born on January 22, 1921, in Barry, Texas. He was an employee of The Dallas News advertising department when he entered the Army Air Force in December 1941.

Orland served in the 328th Bomber Squadron, 93rd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant and Left Waist Gunner of the B24H #41-28590 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on March 29, 1944, when his airplane collided with the B24J #42-110033 and crashed into Henham, England, while leaving for a raid over Germany. He is now buried in the Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, USA.
