Chester Dickenson Makinster was born on April 11, 1919, in Kelso, Cowlitz County, Washington. He was a student of El Dorado County High School, California. He was one of the first group of men inducted for Army training and subsequently transferred to the Air Force and qualified for officer training.
Chester served in the 330th Bomber Squadron, 93rd Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot of the B24J #42-110033 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on March 29, 1944, when his airplane collided with the B24H #41-28590 and crashed into Henham, England while leaving for a raid over Germany. He is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
