Donald Allen Yoder was born on April 27, 1922, in Medina, Ohio. He was the son of Ray and Hazel Yoder, Wadsworth, Medina.
Robert trained in Texas at Harlinger gunnery school and Pyota mechanics school before joining 407th Bomb Squadron, 92nd Bombardment Group, USAAF, based at RAF Podington, Bedfordshire, England.
Donald was the flight engineer of the B17 #42-30821 'The Sweetest One' that crashed near the village of Burton Dassett, England, on November 13, 1943. All ten airmen perished. SSgt Yoder is now buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Wadsworth, Medina County, Ohio, USA. His name is commemorated on a plaque located in Burton Dassett, England, but his surname is spelled 'Yeder.'
