Samuel Lilley was a 19-year-old seaman from Boston who served aboard the merchant ship Rattlesnake. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Lilley died on May 16, 1815, with debility recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
