Wilton G. Erickson was born on August 22, 1918, in Ohio. He served in the 38th Fighter Squadron, 55th Fighter Group, as a Second Lieutenant and a Fighter pilot. He was Killed in Action on September 5, 1945, when his P-38 Fighter plane crashed near Lanzerath, Belgium, during aerial combat. Until 1997, Erickson's body was missing. His name is permanently inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at the Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial and is now marked with a rosette to indicate that he is no longer “missing.” But, unfortunately, we cannot find where his current burial place is.
