David D. Fisher was born on September 10, 1920, in Seattle, Washington. He served in the 38th Fighter Squadron, 55th Fighter Group, as a Second Lieutenant and a Fighter Pilot. On January 31, 1944, aboard P-38 42-67757, at 3:30 PM, his plane was damaged by the Messerschmitt of Oberfeldwebel Anton Pfeffer to such an extent that the aircraft could no longer be kept in the air. Over Ysselsteyn, Fisher jumped out of his aircraft but hit one of the tail surfaces. He was still able to open his parachute but landed badly injured. He was taken to Venlo by the Germans but was already dead on arrival.
2Lt Fisher is now buried in the Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, United Kingdom.
