James Michael "Jim" Garvin was born on July 4, 1915. He was the son of Michael A Garvin and Eliza A Garvin.
James served in the 38th Fighter Squadron, 55th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant and Fighter Pilot. He was Killed in Action on November 29, 1943, when his aircraft was shot down by German fighters near Evreux, France while on a mission to provide escort to bombers attacking at Bremen, Germany. According to station131.co.uk, he was reported down near the Loda Canal, Holland.
1Lt Garvin is now buried in the Holy Name Cemetery, Marcus, Cherokee County, Iowa, USA.
