John Marshall was a 41-year-old seaman from New Bedford who served aboard the merchant ship Alchinene. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Marshall died on April 8, 1815, with no cause of death recorded.
