William Mills was a 21-year-old seaman from New Jersey who served aboard the merchant ship Zebra. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Mills died on March 24, 1815, with no cause of death recorded. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
