John C. "Jack" Grobmyer was born on June 24, 1919, in Carroll County, Kentucky. He was the son of Stanley Alysious Grobmyer and Hester B. Grobmyer.

John served in the Headquarters, US Air Force, Mediterranean, as a Major and Pilot on the B-25 #43-3450 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on February 6, 1945, when his airplane crashed in the woods near Chatel-Montagne in France. His flight has originated in Italy, and around 2:30 PM, his aircraft experienced mechanical failure leading to a crash. All men aboard the plane were killed in this incident.

Major Grobmyer is now buried in the Saint John's Cemetery, Carrollton, Carroll County, Kentucky, USA.
