Jacob Morrell was a 22-year-old seaman from Massachusetts who served aboard the merchant ship Marriott. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Morel died on April 27, 1815, with phthisis recorded as his cause of death.
