Daniel Nash was a 31-year-old seaman from Dorset who served aboard the merchant ship Impressed. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Nash died on February 14, 1815, with variola recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
