Norman H. Nelson was born on July 31, 1919, in Cass County, North Dakota. He was the son of Norris Herman Nelson and Agnes W. Hoglund Nelson.
Norman served in the 313th Fighter Squadron, 50th Fighter Group, as a Captain and Fighter Pilot during World War II. He was a passenger aboard Cessna Bobcat UC-78 #43-7528 when he was killed on July 2, 1944, in a plane crash in England. They were on a transport flight from Carentan to Chilbolton when his aircraft experienced an engine failure and crashed close to St. Mark's Church in Ampfield, England, killing all on board.
Cpt Nelson is now buried in the
Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota, USA.
