Jacob Pinkham was a 22-year-old seaman from Massachusetts who served aboard the merchant ship Mammoth. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Pinkham died on September 25, 1814, with pneumonia recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
