Peter Queenwell was a 33-year-old seaman from Dartmouth who served aboard the merchant ship Walker. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Queenwell died on January 27, 1815, with variola recorded as his cause of death. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
