Rolland W. Racine was born on November 25, 1919, in Massachusetts.
He enlisted in the Air Corps on March 14, 1942. He served in the 361st Fighter Squadron, 356th Fighter Group, as a First Lieutenant and Pilot on the P-47 #42-22525 during World War II. He was Killed in Action on January 11, 1944. On an operational mission in the Steinhuder Lake area, Germany, 1Lt Racine, after getting into a fight with hostile aircraft, was returning home. A call for help came over the R/T and he immediately did a 180 turn and was last seen in a 45-degree dive going very fast heading east. He was declared missing that day and his status was changed to KIA on August 6, 1945.
1Lt Racine is now buried in the Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA.
