John P. Tucker, Jr. entered military service in Florida. He served in the 360th Fighter Squadron, 356th Fighter Group, as a Flight Officer and Pilot of the P-47 'Naughty Patricia' #42-76353 during World War II. While attacking flak position on 17 September 1944 during the airborne operation in Holland, F/O Tucker's aircraft was hit by flak. When about 5 miles northwest of Nijmegen, he said that he was going to return to base. Nothing further was heard of him.

F/O Tucker is now buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery, Luxembourg.
