Robert Whitney Huse was born on December 18, 1920, in Gary, Indiana. He served in the 506th Fighter Squadron, 404th Fighter Group, as a Pilot on the P-47 #42-7884 during World War II. 1Lt was killed on July 31, 1944, from providing air cover for an armored column. He was hit by return fire strafing a tank and armored car. His aircraft exploded and crashed between Avranches and Mortain, France.

1Lt Huse is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France.
