David Turner was a 23-year-old seaman from Boston who served aboard the merchant ship Derby. During the War of 1812, he was captured and held as a prisoner of war at Dartmoor Prison in Princetown, England. Turner died on March 17, 1815, with no cause of death recorded. He was buried at the American Prisoner of War Cemetery in Dartmoor Forest, Devon, England.
