Truman A. Perfect was born on September 25, 1918, in Hartford township, Licking County, Ohio. He was the son of Jay C. Perfect and Millie Leona Pratt Perfect. He attended Johnstown high school also Coshocton high school and graduated from Hartford high school, Croton, in 1939.

When he was inducted into the US Armed Forces on October 14, 1941, at Ft. Hayes, Columbus, Sgt. Perfect was in the employ of the Columbus Coated fabrics company. He took basic training at Ft. Sill, Okla., Ft. Bragg, N. C., and Ft. Jackson, S. C., and later was attached to Troop F, 42nd Cavalry Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Group.

Sgt Perfect, commander of a tank unit, was Killed in Action on April 20, 1945, during the liberation of Asch (Aš), Czech Republic. Prior to that invasion, he had participated in five major battles from July 27, 1944, and was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for gallantry.

Sgt Perfect is now buried in the Green Hill Cemetery, Johnstown, Licking County, Ohio, USA.
