Julius Walter Krafft was born in 1916. He was the son of Louis Philip Krafft.

Julius served in the 524th Bomber Squadron, 379th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot on the B-17 #42-3300 during World War II.

On September 3, 1943, his crew took off from Station 117 airfield in Kimbolton, England, for a bombing mission to Evreux-Fauville, France. At 09:55H, their plane was shot down by flak, and it was partially evacuated before it exploded. Two bodies were found in the plane. The rest who were able to bail out was taken as prisoners except for SSgt Frydryk, who was killed by landing on a tree. Their airplane crashed at La Livree - 1 km southeast of Epinay.

2Lt Krafft was one of those two who were killed in the crash. He is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
