Morrison T. Nolan served in the 524th Bomber Squadron, 379th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Mechanic on the B-17 #42-3300 during World War II.

On September 3, 1943, his crew took off from Station 117 airfield in Kimbolton, England, for a bombing mission to Evreux-Fauville, France. At 09:55H, their plane was shot down by flak, and it was partially evacuated before it exploded. Two bodies were found in the plane. The rest who were able to bail out was taken as prisoners (including SSgt Nolan) except for SSgt Frydryk, who was killed by landing on a tree. Their airplane crashed at La Livree - 1 km southeast of Epinay. SSgt Nolan was brought to Stalag III in Sagan-Silesia, Poland.
