Frank Peter Frydryk was born on September 7, 1914, in Three Rivers, Hampden County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Piotr Paul Frydryk and Tekla Czerwiec Frydryk.
Frank served in the 524th Bomber Squadron, 379th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Ball Turret Gunner on the B-17 #42-3300 during World War II.
On September 3, 1943, his crew took off from Station 117 airfield in Kimbolton, England, for a bombing mission to Evreux-Fauville, France. At 09:55H, their plane was shot down by flak, and it was partially evacuated before it exploded. Two bodies were found in the plane. The rest who were able to bail out was taken as prisoners except for SSgt Frydryk, who was killed by landing on a tree. Their airplane crashed at La Livree - 1 km southeast of Epinay.
SSgt Frydryk is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
