Earl Leroy Peters was born in 1922 in Montana. He was the son of James P. Peters.
Earl served in the 393rd Fighter Squadron, 367th Fighter Group, as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot of the P-38 #42-68060 during World War II.
On June 17, 1944, he took off at Station 452 airfield in Stoney Cross, England, for an attack mission to the marshaling yards of Epernon, France. At 2:35 PM, he was shot down by an Me109 fighter, crashing his plane into the commune of Maillebois.
2Lt Peters is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
