Winfield Starr Breese was born on January 3, 1891. His home was in Lincoln, Nebraska. He attended the first O.T.C. at Ft. Snelling and was transferred to aviation. He finished the ground school at Columbus, Ohio, and was commissioned at Kelly Field.

Later, he was sent to the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France, where, unfortunately, he was killed in an airplane accident. 2Lt Breese is now buried in the Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska, USA.
