Harry S. Gwynne was born in Pennsylvania. He was the son of Lorenzo Dow Gwynne and Caroline Seiver Gwynne. He was the husband of Eula Golda Smith Gwynne Kiskaddon Nettleship.
Harry served in the 33rd Aero Squadron as a Captain during World War I. He was killed in an airplane accident on June 9, 1918, in France and is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. Cpt Gwynne was one of the 171 American servicemen who trained at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and died between 1917-1919.
