Mark Fayette Hamilton was born on July 23, 1894, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was the son of Sandy Hamilton and Sarah L Martin Hamilton.

Mark was a First Lieutenant in the HQ Detachment of the 118th Aero Squadron in World War I. He was flying a Nieuport plane when he died on August 5, 1918, in Issoudun, France. 1Lt Hamilton was one of the 171 American servicemen who trained at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and died between 1917-1919. He is now buried in the Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA.
