Robert W. Holt Jr. was born in January 1897 in Pennsylvania. He was the son of Robert W. Holt Sr and Virginia G Clevenger Holt.

Robert W., Jr. served in the 32nd Aero Squadron as a Sergeant during World War I. He was killed in a plane crash as a passenger on July 24, 1918, and is now buried in the Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, USA. Sgt Holt was one of the 171 American servicemen who trained at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and died between 1917-1919.
