Donald McCormack Sage was born on April 4, 1896, in Delavan, Walworth County, Wisconsin. He was the son of Charles Andrew Sage and Clara Belle McCormack Sage.
Donald served in the US Air Service Signal Corps as a Second Lieutenant during World War I. He was killed in an airplane accident in France on October 11, 1918, and is now buried in the Spring Grove Cemetery, Delavan, Walworth County, Wisconsin, USA. 2Lt Sage was one of the 171 American servicemen who trained at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and died between 1917-1919.
