Irwin H. Shaw was born in 1894, in Columbia, Missouri. He was the son of James Henry Shaw and Rebecca Frances Fleming Shaw.
Irwin served in the 31st Aero Squadron as a Private during World War I. He died of ptomaine poison on November 29, 1917, and is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. Pvt Shaw was one of the 171 American servicemen who trained at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and died between 1917-1919.
