Clyde Creighton Webb was born on September 21, 1891, in Georgetown, Illinois. He was the son of Benjamin Franklin Webb and Ida Violia Scott Webb. He was married to Vera Marie Trentzsch Webb.

Clyde entered military service in Wisconsin. He served in the 2nd Mechanized Regiment, Air Service, as a Sergeant during World War I. Sadly, Sgt Webb died by suicide in France on November 11, 1918, and is now buried in the St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France. He was one of the 171 American servicemen who trained at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and died between 1917-1919.
