Frederic M. �Fred� Woods was born on December 20, 1892, in Orange, Franklin County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Edith Woods of Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

Frederic served in the 12th Company of the 3rd Motor Mechanics Regiment during World War I. He died of disease in France on October 2, 1918, but his current burial place is unknown. He was one of the 171 American servicemen who trained at the Third Aviation Instruction Center in France and died between 1917-1919.
